About

Lianne Todd is a watercolour artist living in Otterville, Ontario.

Lianne strives to capture a moment, a place or an idea and to lure the viewer in. Her watercolours vary between traditional and non-traditional, both in application and in subject matter.  They are usually vivid reflections of nature and as such they are most often praised for their illusion of depth and light.  She welcomes you to view their wide variety at her home gallery in Otterville.  She also accepts commissions.

Lianne has been the president of the Artists of Oxford artist network in Oxford County since March 2012.  She is currently one of three representatives for IWS Canada, a national branch of the International Watercolor Society.   She is also serving as Deputy Press Secretary – English language, for the IWS.  She is featured in their 2014 Watercolor of the World Catalogue, which she helped edit.

Artist’s Statement:

My paintings reflect my attachment to the land, my interest in science, my childhood on the farm, summers on lakes in northern Ontario, hikes through the woods, crisp winter days, flowers in the garden, music, pets, and my two children.  They are images of the places, people, and parts of nature that I love.  Often the quality of light strikes me at certain moments and my goal is to capture that in my paintings.  I also like combining various images within a painting to express a certain idea or explore a topic.  My newest inspiration is the fractal nature of the universe.   My hope, for all of my paintings, is to transfer my appreciation of the subject to the viewer.
